Holy shit I just read the summary for the next episode. Since “Read It and Weep” aired I always wondered how an episode about Twilight and Dash interacting that way would go (won’t spoil that here), now we will find out! Yes yes yes!
And it’s written by Amy Keating Rogers! YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.
One of my dreamed situations/scenes as a Twidash fan!
PS: Haven’t watched the last 5 episodes, need to catch up.
Read it and Weep was good, but it wasn’t a TwiDash friendshipping episode. Certainly not on the level of Look Before You Sleep, or that AppleDash running one. It was “Hey Rainbow Dash, here’s a book, bye!” Twi shared about five minutes of screen time with Rainbow.
As I said, it was a good episode, but certainly not the TwiDash friendshipping episode I wanted it to be. Hell, I’d class Games Ponies Play as a better TwiDash friendshipping episode, purely on the fact that they were actually spending time with each other (even if the episode wasn’t about their friendship itself).
So yeah, not gonna get my hopes up about it. Bad things happen when I want certain things to happen with the show.
Agree with everything there, especially the last part, was just kinda surprised since it’s something I’ve wanted to happen in the show :P (it’s now canon, guise!1) . I’m aware this episode most likely won’t go that far, it’s to be expected. I just do enjoy a lot when the writers bring scenes or circumstances where characters can interact in new/different ways.
For example, I was smiling like an idiot as RD and Twi geeked about Daring Do in front of their friends in Daring Don’t, something that wouldn’t have happened without Read It and Weep. See, RIAW didn’t keep them together in the same scene for long, but it gave them both something in common, something new to share together, which ended in them saving the day along with their favorite book character (and writer) many episodes later. It also helped push more fanart of them together, so no complaints here. Overall, I was very happy with the episode, it was entertaining too, of course.
Character interactions are the hearth of the show for me, and I was fascinated when Lauren Faust revealed in the EqD interview that they had 2 kind of episodes they mainly worked on in Season 1: one is the Slice-of-Life episodes, the other is the “character interaction”-centered episodes (it shouldn’t be too hard to tell what S1 episode is which kind). I’m pretty sure these last seasons have moved away from the latter quite a bit and more towards the SOL+action/adventure kind, but the interactions still happen, and that’s all I need.
As a side note, Look Before You Sleep is the #1 example of friendshipping in MLP (IMO). Pretty sure without it Rarijack wouldn’t have made it this far. Rarijack happens to be my second favorite ship after Twidash too, sooo…
